The first song I ever finished writing. I had the idea for this in late 2011. The melody came while I was on the road with a great band consisting of Noam Pikelney, Chris Eldridge Gabe Witcher, Aiofe O'Donovan and Mark Schatz. I felt a bit like I was subbing for Thile and I guess the riff presented itself in that pop-grass sort of style.
lyrics
I've been tryin' to track you down, rollin' round from town to town
I catch a glimpse, then you're off on another road
I gave up everything but hope, I's at the end of my rope
Thought I'd lost it all, now I finally see
CH:
The peace that I seek, the one that can set me free
Has always been right here walkin' next to me
I'm tired of trying to be so strong, and this journey's been so long
I give it all to you, please won't you set me free
I guess I lost you long ago, where and when hell I don't know
I got caught up, tryin' to make it my own way
This world is cold they say, without a light to guide the way
I was lost for awhile, now I can finally see
CH x2
